Ingredients:
1 lb or pork belly
1 tbsp of dark soy sauce
3 tbsp of soy sauce
0.5 tbsp Chinese five spice (1 stick of cinnamon, 1 tsp of prickly ash, 1 tsp of fennel seeds, 1 star anise, 2 tbsp of minced fresh ginger) grinded up or use powder
1 tbsp Red yeast powder
1 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar
1 tsp of sake
2 cups of picked shredded radish or shredded pickled vegetables
16 gua baos
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, add dark soy sauce, soy sauce, five spice, brown sugar, and sake.
Add pork belly into mixture. Massage for 5 minutes.
Let it marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour or overnight.
Cook pork belly for 30 - 45 minutes in air fryer or bake in oven for 30 - 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove pork belly from air fryer or oven. Let it cool.
Once pork belly is cooled, slice pork belly into strips.
Open up gua baos, place a few slices of pork belly and pickled vegetables in gua bao.
Steam gua baos for 8 - 10 minutes.
