Caramel Apple Pie

Ingredients:

  • Two pie crusts

  • 2 lb honeycrisp apples

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 3 tbsp flour

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 8 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1/2 cup biscoff lotus cookie butter

  • 1/2 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp apple liquor

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp caramel sauce/syrup

Tools:

  • Pie pan

  • Saucepan

  • Pizza cutter/knife


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. On medium heat, combine 8 tbsp butter, 3 tbsp flour, 1 cup sugar, then 1/4 cup water in a saucepan. Whisk gently to avoid clumps.

  3. Thinly slice the honeycrisp apples. Pour sauce mixture onto apples. Evenly coat the apples with the sauce mixture.

  4. Place one pie crust onto pie pan.

  5. Spread cookie butter onto pie crust.

  6. Slowly add apple mixture into pan. Make sure middle of pie has a mound and less apple mixture on the edges.

  7. Top with 1/2 tbsp cinnamon and lightly drizzle caramel sauce.

  8. Using a pizza cutter or knife, slice the other pie crust into strips.

  9. Alternate pie crust into criss cross pattern.

  10. Beat egg with 1/2 tbsp butter. Apply egg wash onto pie crust.

  11. Cook for 15 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Then lower heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 45 minutes. Apply egg butter wash every 15 minutes until no more egg butter is left.

  12. Remove from oven. Let pie rest for 1 hour at room temperature before cutting.
